Happy New Year to you as well! I guess I will have to "get into' podcasts. I tend towards reading and visual mediums. Looking forward! My best to you and family!
Thanks Sherman, we spent last evening with friends, whom we have been spending New Years Eve with for over 20 years. We had root beer floats, oddly enough. It came to me after reading your poem, that I can live with unanswered questions far better than I ever could in the past. I love receiving your words on line, but am very excited about having another physical book in my hands.
Happy New Year to you and your family! And I am pleased to hear about the new (tangible) books coming out. Which brings me to sort of a related question, if you will entertain it. For those of us who enjoy owning and re-reading your published poetry collections, one early volume (I Would Steal Horses) is only available on the secondary market at prices of $850 to (gulp) $7500. I don't know what the status of the copyright is, but is there any hope of an affordable second edition coming into print in the future?
Thank you for your books. Such courage to bare your soul in the book about your mother. If you ever come to Cleveland I will want to give you a giant squeeze.
Well, I like it! And Georgia loves root beer floats. Here's to the world of unanswered & unanswerable questions! Looking forward to those 2 limited edition books--"A Memory of Elephants" was surely a treat (will Limberlost do the others?)--MUST get my copy signed one of these days!
Great memory Sherman. Church youth group gatherings always included soft serve from Dean's Drive-in and a couple gallons of their root beer. Only time to ever over indulge. 🤣. Happy New Year to you. Hope our paths cross in 2023.
This poem resonates. My grandfather was the older adult who had time for my siblings and me. We would regularly share root beer floats. Thanks for sharing your poetry and enabling a positive memory.
Why have I never thought to have root beer floats on NYE?!!! Brilliant! Next year. Thanks for all that you do for all of us.
Marcos! Here's to root beer floats!
Sweet sweet poem, Sherman. Who is it that said gratitude is like standing in a holy place? You made me feel that with this poem.
Happy New Year to you and yours as well Sherman. Truly appreciate all you've shared this past year and looking forward to 2023!
Thank you, Mary Kay.

Totally original and unexpected. Looking forward , with gratitude, to the publication, in print books, of your work.
Wishing you a solidly good year in 2023. Looking forward to more writing--thank you!
I raise a root beer!

To all the questions we have yet to ask! Those are especially important. I’m going to be thinking a lot about that today.
Yeah, books!!!
