When did both sides start believing they were electing a savior rather than a politician? When did we start to hate our neighbors over people who dont even know we exist?
Wow! If poems could speak. The way politics have moved for the last decade not to say more, it's evident - if you want to see - that politicians act like kings and queens and fore go what they've been elected for I guess. Very refreshing. They both need to mend their wings but in the end, we'll be the ones to loose our own bird song. This is a master piece!
No, I don't think it is an argument for monarchy, but it points out how, even when the people vote, the poor still elect Kings and Queens. It's complex, of course, it involves the wealthy still consolidating power in elected position, the fact that getting elected, becoming known to the people, has become so expensive that it's so rare for someone to do so while remaining a representative of "the people" rather than a representative of the donors and the PACs.
Love it
This poem so cleverly so clearly speaks to our current political climate with such succinct images and sounds!

Absolutely brilliant!!
You never fail to delight!
If you want something fixed, ask a woman, a queen.
Great, to the point, poem!
The poem questions our need to elect kings and/or queens.
What April said!
How different our world would be - devoid of paupers or kings- if we were led by a council of elders who guided with kindness, altruism and equity
Well-said and so spot-on.
Not short nor sweet
I hear them tweet,
And I will vote
Though there’s no GOAT

An argument for monarchy, I think. Then you wouldn't have to vote for royalty, only leaders, leaders as functionaries, not heads of state.

Sho’ nuff — poetic license. And generalized. But, the real politik here is: Kamala ain’t nobody’s queen. Refreshing.
I could easily offer another poem but this is yours and that's as it should be.
I believe in voting at all levels. I do wonder why so many of us vote against our own interests, and support the interests of those we will never be.
I love the poem, by the way -- I forgot to say that!
