A beautiful love story!

There is nothing for anyone as wondrous as a strong relationship. So very grateful for my partner. Once an aerialist now disabled with lupus, our partnership stays as strong as that brilliant New Mexico day 6/6/87 on our student ghetto rooftop, when Patsy Jojola (Isleta Pueblo) opened our path and blessed us so warmly...Next day: high desert cracks of thunder and much needed rain fall...

I am the 5th girl in the family of 8 children (7 girls, 1 lonely boy). We were watching a movie where an Indian man brought a bunch of horses for the Chief's daughter, and my dad, being the opportunistic joker, delighted in saying: can you imagine the horses and gifts I would have if we still practiced that? I miss him every day.

Damn, man. I think my spouse could only imagine lassoing (?) 12 wild algorithyms. But he'd do his geek boy best. Thanks for these amazing images.

love "trekked / into the wilderness / to do my city boy best."

also loved the sound and rhythm of "lassos and saddles"

But then this city girl, overthinking?, wondered why you couldn't just use the same lasso twelve different times. (Overthinking or underknowing?)

I liked the symmetry of twelve lassos and twelve horses but I recognize there's a bit of a logic problem there!

It's poetry. Who needs logic?

Yup

You nailed love

That line where Sherman transitions into the action he'd take to demonstrate his love for Diane: "But if I'd been forced / to enter that primal battle." I feel much the same for my wife.

Thank you, Larry.

I tried that once, but all I could find were wild asses. So she left me.

This love song sings worthiness. Loving and being loved.

Thank you, Amanda.

Speaking of dowries, saw an amazing film yesterday: Birds of Passage in English. A very high bride price and love /lust at first sight is what sparks a fratricidal war between traditional indigenous communities by feeding greed and ambition and clashing with honor. Directors, cast, etc are Columbian.

Me, too. Sounds very interesting. Thanks, Diana.

Oh, I need to check that out.

Sherman,

Birds Of Passage is available to rent on Amazon Prime for about $4. I’m sure it’s available other places, too.

I’ll see you in Bellingham for Smoke Signals on the 14th. I’ll get you to sign one of your books and I’ll remind you that I’m the obnoxious Jew who answered the “why did you cut your hair” question in SLC by suggesting that the woman read your book again.

Thanks for the your posts. I enjoy them.

Jill

Sherman, thank you for the voice over, not only reading your piece -- I loved hearing your voice, in all ways -- also the commentary beforehand which was very reassuring to me.

Thank you, Chris!
