I never thought of how hunger is a prayer. Yes, what we wish for, what we ask for, our needs, these are our requests to what spirits there may be. Whether lofty like freedom or as basic as air.
Dear Sherman. What a great poem. I have never witnessed anyone diving or fishing for salmon and I do not live in WA. Reading the comments was interesting and about the Grand Coulee Dam. My father had a fascination with dams and took us on trips to see them when we were children. The Grand Coulee Dam was one of the first we visited. The destruction of the whole dam system, at least in California, seems to be restoring fish back to our waterways.
I love your poems, especially from your Subaru. Great!♥️
I can picture you standing so still with your spear raised just waiting for the movement to strike.
Gorgeous words ❤️🩹

I love this
Wow, Sherman. Hunger is prayer—wonderful metaphor,
Your poetry is visual and evocative.
❤️❤️❤️ Salmon and an old repurposed refrigerator.
Love that parking lot poem
We have a refrigerator in the shop and we use it to smoke salmon, steelhead and razor clams.
O, my god. Thank you! Breathing again now that we've reached the surface.
Sherman, lovely mix of old and new, or new longing for old, various olds, knowing better but not quite.
Somebody else probably mentioned this, but on a quick skim of the comments I didn't see it.
Should the "than" in the first stanza be "that"? Or am I misreading? At any rate, kudos.
Oh good! I thought I imagined that. It’s been corrected now. My eyes are fine. ;)
Good to see your face/hear your voice/think about salmon in a subaru
I had a dream there was a river museum where you could watch the salmon swim upstream through a big glass window. Also they sang opera.
I’ll have whatever you’re having! 😍
Beautiful! Thanks for the live reading!
Thank you, and thank you for reading this from the Subaru studio.
