“Morrison’s warning about the state of publishing in 1981 didn’t advocate a return to the solitary, romantic toiler. Instead, her keynote address called for movement building: “We don’t need any more writers as solitary heroes. We need a heroic writers movement—assertive, militant, pugnacious.”- lareviewofbooks.org. https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/there-is-no-point-in-my-being-other-than-honest-with-you-on-toni-morrisons-rejection-letters/?utm_source=join1440&utm_medium=emai

Dude, get over yourself and write a book. You are an amazing writer. You Don't Have to Tell Me You Love Me, was one of the most moving, intense, best books I have read. I read a lot of books. Lit major. You know how that goes. I wait everyday for you to put out another book. Every day .... Just write it. It's in you already

This should be interesting. I just saw a “Junior” version of “The LittlePrincess” as a High SChool production. It certainly gave pause for thought. What does having young people mimicking cartoon characters in every motion? When We have stereotypical vacuous pink princesses chasing after clueless princes? When I think of writers like Saroyan, or Steinbeck, that created believable characters drawn from working people, I don’t know. I realize that this is a crabby old lady complaining, but if this type of cartoon borrowing is standard for the young, how will they ever see themselves in “real life”?

I am happy to see you on Substack and thrilled that you are addressing cancellation in your writing. As they say. "Write what you know!"

I am just so damn happy that you have re-emerged

Sherman - in my humble opinion, one of the great things about Substack is the presence of writers such as yourself who are sharing their experience with those of who are just starting out on our journey. Keep up the great work and thanks for all you do.
