I have to admit I like the good story for a party bit. The added thing with the brother just doesn't seem to fit. Love the story. I also thought Costner riding off at the end, sucked.
The mall sighting of the brother is an interesting coda, but I think I enjoy the story better without it. The brother & sister are more permanently linked without it, and the self-reproach of the ending is more poignant. The whole story is beautiful, either way.
