This poem is deliciously invitingly written as well as orally received! It brings back my New Hampshire childhood memories of picking apples at a local apple orchard farm. Thank you for this sumptuously delicious tribute to the apple!

The apple of my eye

is processed into pie.

Best served ala mode

and free of the guilt

that I am told,

exists with my gender

and the need to surrender

to the temptations of life.

Now bring me knife.

Love this Sherman! You are a gifted poet. I come back to the myth of Adam and Eve so often. Such a powerful allegory for the creation of human consciousness. Yet so horribly misunderstood.

Ode to Apple, I've pretty much quit the blame, trying to stay sweet not sour.

Love this poem! I could almost taste the tartness of the Granny Smith sitting on my kitchen counter. Now I have to find out what a "quince" is!

One of the best poems into which I have bitten. Both whimsical and philosophical. Thanks Sherman.
