Excellent news! I was gonna make a wisecrack and say make some up?

But as I have learned , history is a compound word for his story.

It’s a serious time now more than ever , to take opportunities that can add a voice from those who were excluded from the old de rigueur body of work propagated

In world literature and specifically the American experience

Your words ,stories, and authenticity in communication resonate deeply with me and I assume with all who appreciate your work and honesty.

I look forward to all of your insightful words, poetry and of course,

Stories !

I understand your overall point but it's impossible for me to say I've been excluded as a Native writer!

Typical of me , I try to express myself and get tangled in communication that jumps around like my thoughts -and no one else's. The particular level of depth , sincerity and truth found in your words resonates with me. There are lessons and wisdom available there to cull out ; especially re-reading your stories . This is a noteworthy feature found in classical literature. I love literature and the puzzles behind the messages in classics. All the years I taught school (until 2005) I hadn't heard of your book. I live in Alaska and I am disgusted with this fact.

I am mystified who and how authors get promoted

thank you

Congrats, Sherman! I'm sure this will be fascinating. Do you happen to know if they're recording it? I'll look it up...

No recording. I always prefer than events exist on their own.

Congratulations! What an honor to share what you've learned as an indigenous storyteller! It's times like these that I'm thankful to be an American where the wisdom of our first people is included in our academic conversations.

And speaking of first people, PBS in Spokane ( new channel out of Pullman) is or was showing a marvelous series based on how long they have trod the Americas! I hope to purchase it from them. The exciting news is they have been here 100,000 years according to the archeologists who discovered human footprints next to those of a giant panda (dinosaur) apparently running from the beast. I can't wait to order the series! And I, too, am thankful to be an American! ~Jan

The latest evidence is that humans arrived in North America approximately 20 to 30,000 years ago. I don't know what that documentary is basing its claims on. In any case, what we now call Africa is the birthplace of our earliest ancestors. And then human migration peopled the world.

This makes me so happy!!!! It's been too long since you've been in the public eye.

I love well-told stories: There's a group called the Clallam County Storytellers that, pre-pandemic, held annual weekend festivals that I would attend.

Brandi Carlile - I was thinking of her today. Thanks for including her in your announcement.

Thanks for posting this here, Sherman. It’s the only place I tolerate social media. And lucky for me, it takes me 5 minutes to walk there.

Buy your ticket soon and say hello that night.

I just bought them and certainly will. Glad I read closer though because I live near UW, not Seattle U. Sometimes I hurry things when I get excited.

Sherman! I popped into the Boston Public Library before dinner and the symphony tonight, and I walked into the perfect aisle on accident! It was YOUR aisle! :D I took a picture but can't figure out how to send it... But it made me happy!

I enjoy your writing! I had just listened to that song last week but I had never seen Brandi Carlisle’s SNL appearance. Her joy at the end was lovely—thank you for sharing the link.
