I'm lucky to have had Tracy as a classmate in college, would regularly see her playing on campus. A highlight was her playing at the center of a student protest gathering as we surrounded the administration building. For the most part, the protest did not successfully "get student voices heard," but Tracy's voice stopped forward motion of time. 'Twas truly deeply holy. We were all tickled when the first album came out, played it endlessly, but secretly yearned for the days when we could hear her voice and guitar live without any mechanical intrusion. Later, spending Christmas on the beaches of Goa, India, we felt like the album unified the world, virtually all beach-hut cafe's spinning that disk simultaneously, if not in synch. Magical. Utterly magical.

Fast car? Then just drive! Wow, nice, congratz! I’m sure it’s been immensely hard work while you obviously have extreme oodles to say. I have only one supporting member despite owning 157 free submarines that read my earthly love posts. And though I’ve been posting daily for over a year now very emotional personal stuff describing what I feel, I guess I have nothing much to say, just saying, lol.

I wrote about this performance in yesterday's issue and it's so great to read all of the comments here and see just how many others feel as I did watching Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs together. Such an amazing moment!

This is so beautiful and wonderful, but I have to admit at one point I said to my screen, SIT DOWN, TAYLOR!

Other camera angles of the perforance show that a few dozen people were standing. The TV director made an editorial choice to feature Taylor with that particular camera angle.

Talk about an earworm, Mr. Alexie. I've only played this maybe 30 times and loving more each play.

Thanks for the video link. I didn't know I would cry. This was the anthem of my youth: the feeling of both being trapped by circumstances and completely free.

Thanks for sharing, one of the highlights of the Grammy's for sure. The pure joy radiating from both of them was palpable. And Luke Combs, the way he would look at Tracy Chapman like he couldn't believe he was on stage with her.

THANK YOU for passing this on. I missed the Grammy’s and that was such a moving performance. 🙏

Beautiful song. All the exhilaration of young love & being on the road, full of hope & possibilities. The sad ambiguous choice at the end. I'm glad Chapman is getting more time in the sun with this.

Thanks for the link Sherman.
