Beautiful. I really liked where this poem went. Dreamers.

Keep dreaming beautiful dreams.

I've listened to this one over and over. "...sifting through all of the molecules in the universe" blows me away. It made me want to do whatever I had to do to find a loose bead barrel.

The poem as call to action! Thank you!

I’ve been writing a lot about my family in recent months, and my grandmother used to call me “a dreamer,” so this really resonated!

Your last lines--always rich. You leave me feeling the sacred. Thank you!

I enjoy it when you explain your poem's form and type. Because I know basically nothing about poetry. What I love about your poetry is it always affects me, laughter or tears, one or the other. When I read this I remembered the story of your Grandmother's regalia in a pawn shop by Pike Place Market. Loved that story and this poem, Thanks

It does sound nice read. Appreciate it Sherman. 🙏

I share that dreamer part, beginning to unpackage via Substack. My mom is a doer, pragmatic. We're still working on reconciling the two!

Thanks for sharing with us.

Thank you for this. It reminds of the key role that a single bead plays in your short story, "What You Pawn I Will Redeem," which is one of the greatest short stories of the last 20 years (and a personal favorite). This image of the "loose bead barrel" and the child dipping his hands in it will stay with me.
