Excellent performance by Ulrich Mühe - who, when asked how he got the part so right said “I remembered”. Sadly he died not long after that film. I subscribe to MUBI - a good platform for less mainstream films. That’s where I saw it.
After reading/listening to the article you posted "When Anti-Racism Comes for the Anti-Racists" I thought it was yet another example of how separated we have become, moving only in the circles of people/things which we approve of, all others be cancelled.
I really, truly, fear people cannot have open discussions anymore.
You're absolutely right about the actions of the left. I'm a life-long liberal who, at 85, has been at this for a long, long time, but astonished (not for the first time) that anyone in our realm would think it's okay to change even a word of a writer's work to reflect a muddied version of our own time rather than a reflection of their own.
The stupidity is baffling. Who do they think they're satisfying? The other side? We don't give a shit about the other side. We despise the other side. Are they afraid of the other side? Then they need to stop pretending they're us.
Boom. BOOM. B. O. O. M.
lovely words here so happy to have found the page. left or right - people must be able to speak openly :)
I think some of the left is actually business as usual capitalist ideology but with emotive images of equality/justice as an elaborate disguise.
I think that's an accurate description.
OK -I’m gonna get it- have been wondering. Thx.
Oh, yeah, they are IT.
I remember that Polley film - really good. And nice to know you know MUBI - sometimes a bit hit or miss but I’ve seen great stuff there.
Yeah, the Criterion Channel app is where I stay busy!

I'll check it out. Sarah Polley's "Away From Her" is on Mubi. I recommend it.
Mubi is great!
PS - just rewatched “The Lives of Others” - fantastic films

I hope it changes.
I hope too. In the meantime...I'll just try to listen.

Thank you, Emily.
Twenty words say it perfectly. This is art.
